My name is Nick Piechocki and I am very excited as we begin the 2018-2019 school year here at MJHS. This will be my second year here at MJHS but I have been teaching since 2008 when I began teaching in Florida for 4 years at PACE-Center for Girls- Polk County and PACE-Center for Girls Alachua County. After my wife and I returned to Lousiana I went back to LSU to get my Masters of Arts in Teaching, Specialization in Biology in 2014. I had previously earned my B.S. in Biological Sciences in 2004, also from LSU. I currently hold certification in both General Sciences 6-12 and in Biology 6-12 as we begin the 2018-2019 school year.
Based on Louisiana State Science Standards we have a full year ahead of us covering topics inluding Earth's processes, biological evolution, genetics, energy and matter and finally ending with the study of our solar system. Because the topics we will cover range from physical, life and earth/space sciences, we will have a variety of opportunities to explore each topic using a combination of small group instruction, lab activities and technology resources to make sure every student has all available resources to assist them throughout the school year as we explore each topic.
Even though I only teach in the afternoon I also co-sponsor the National Junior Honor Society and act as the Science Department Chair for the 2018-2019 school year. If anyone has any questions or concerns throughout the school year please feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org and I will do my best to respond as soon as possible to help answer your questions or concerns. I look forward to another fun and exciting year here at MJHS and I look forward to meeting all you during our upcoming Open House.
