Mayfield Band
  • Have an awesome summer!!!!!

The Mayfield Band Program is open to all 5th and 6th grade students who aspire to learn how to read, write, perform and create music. We honor our Vets in November, perform for the city in December, numerous opportunities to play for our Mayfield family and friends, and as of last year, we took our hard work to the St. Tammany Parish Band Festival and had the opportunity to perform for a judge and six other schools. We earned an "Excellent" rating, which is the second highest score. We grow stronger every year and look forward to another amazing year here at Mayfield Elementary.

After graduating from Northshore High school in 2005, my studies continued at Southeastern Louisiana Universty in Music Education and Trumpet Performance. While at Southeastern, I performed with the Southeastern Wind Symphony, sat Assistant Principal for one year and Principal trumpet for two years. In 2010, I was the Finalist of the Kappa Kappa Psi Concerto Competition and had the most amazing opportunity to perform the Haydn Trumpet Concerto with the Wind Symphony.

My time was also spent as Lead trumpet in the Southeastern Jazz Ensemble I where we performed at Jazz Fest in New Orleans and had great opportunities to play with many great musicians. The Jazz Ensemble was the featured band at the Louisiana Music Educators Association Convention where we had the opportunity to share the stage with Boneramma.

After completing student teaching at Fontainebleu High School, I accepted my first job teaching high school. From there the opportunity to teach beginner band, junior high band, classroom music and choir were all experiences that made up my 7 years of teaching. Along with teaching, I am currently enrolled in grad school studying Music Education and Instrumental Conducting at the University of Southern Mississippi.

Outside of school, my time is spent crossfitting, training for triathlons and playing with my dog Coda, who was rescued last year.
