    Class Schedule and Brief Description:

    Monday / Friday: 1st and 3rd periods

    Tuesday / Thursday: 5th , 6th , and 7th periods

     Currently, I am off campus all day Wednesday at the Brooks Center in Slidell, and off-site at TAP curriculum meetings on Friday afternoons.


    This semester the students will be working with a variety of media beginning with in-depth drawing explorations. These explorations will provide the students with the foundation for a complete understanding of the essentials required as we move through the many projects planned throughout the year. We will be exploring media as diverse as printmaking, animation and sculpture, to name a few. I am excited by the possibilities and hope that the students will be excited, and challenged, as well. Your help and encouragement will go a long way toward making this year a success for us all.

    Dear Parents and Students,


    I would like to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Amanda Morris and I will be teaching Talented Visual Arts to the students at Mandeville Junior High School and Honey Island Elementary this year. I have recently moved to the area from New Mexico, where I was working collaboratively with professional artists at the Tamarind Institute, while also receiving advanced and specialized training in fine art lithography printmaking. While in New Mexico I maintained an active gallery presence and received representation through Central Features.


    I attended Indiana University Purdue University Indiana where I majored in both Art History and Fine Art. I received my Masters of Fine Arts in printmaking and sculpture at Ohio University. While I enjoy all aspects of art, I am currently focusing on lithographic printmaking and sculptural practices within my own body of work.


    I am very excited about the upcoming school year and filled with plans and ideas for active classes. This year some of the activities we will be working on include our drawing skills, exploring the use of color, and working with new materials. I can hardly wait for class to get started and look forward to meeting and working with my students and their families.

    One last note, please save the date for the Talented Arts Program Festival on Saturday, October 13th at Lakeshore High from 9:30 - 2:00. We will be taking a trip back in time to the Renaissance! Parents will have the opportunity to view TAP student work in art, music, and theatre!


    I am looking forward to a great year of growth and creativity for the students!

    Information about Art Club at Mandeville Jr High School:

    Ms. Morris – Sponsor

    • Art Club is open to ALL students who have:
      • completed an application,
      • paid the club fee ($8)
      • have a ride home after the meetings (at 3:35)
    • Talented Art students are also encouraged to join Art Club in order to expand their opportunities to create original art work.
    • Students should have a good academic standing and no behavioral issues.
    • Membership will be limited to 15 students because of available space for creating and storing projects.
    • Art Club meetings are held in room 101 twice a month on scheduled Tuesday afternoon from 2:35 to 3:35
    • The First meeting will be held on Tuesday October 2nd, 2018 A schedule of meeting dates will be posted on my website as soon as I get that up and running.
    • Students need to be picked up at the Villere Street entrance no later than 3:45
    • Students will work on a variety of projects with a variety of media (including painting and printmaking). Projects will be both individually driven and collaborative works created to decorate the school. Projects will be driven by student interests.
