It is my pleasure to teach Math and/or Science this year. This is my twenty-first year as a teacher and my first year at Monteleone Junior High School. Most recently, I taught ELA, Math and Science in Tangipahoa Parish. Prior to that I lived in Charlotte, North Carolina where I taught all content areas for over 17 years.
At Atlanta's Oglethorpe University, I majored in English and History, but my first two jobs were at Wall Street firms. I became a teacher when my son turned two. Having a family helped me realize my true passion, so I went back to college and got my teaching certification. I earned my National Board Certification in 2003 and renewed it in 2014. I am one of approximately 250 teachers in the parish that have this certificate. It was hard work, but worth the feeling that came with successfully completing it.
I love learning simply for learning's sake and this year promises lots of excitement. I believe that education is the most important path to success. Learning opens doors to our entire world and I take it as my joy and responsibility to help your children discover who they can be and the fantastic futures that await them. My expectations and academic standards are high, but are always within the students' best efforts.
