Holli Kipker Jessee
Hello and welcome to my 8th grade ELA class! I am looking forward to "Sharpening the Standards" with my Wildcat Family this year.
I am a native of St. Bernard Parish, however, I now reside in Abita Springs with my husband Robert, my daughters, Brynn and Carter, and our Australian Shepard, Bellatrix. I attended St. Robert Bellarmine in Arabi and Archbishop Hannan High in Meraux for elementary and high school. In 2011, I graduated from the University of New Orleans with a Bachelor of the Arts Degree in Secondary English Education. Prior to coming to STJH this year, I have logged over 6 years in the classroom teaching courses all the way from 5th grade to English II. I am also a Teacher Leader Advisor for the LDOE working create curriculum supports to ensure that the Louisiana Student Standards are accessible to all Louisiana teachers and their students.
I became a teacher of English because I wanted to help children see the value and power that literacy has in the world. Over the course of our year together, we will live many lives and travel through multiple different genres and historical events to learn more about ourselves and others.
“A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies. The man who never reads lives only one.” – George R. R. Martin
