Morgan L. Douglas

  • Welcome to 2nd grade!

My name is Morgan Douglas, I am a native of Slidell, LA and a product of the St. Tammany Parish Public School System. I am a graduate of Northshore High School Class of 2009! I recieved my bachelor's degree from Southern University at New Orleans in 2014. I have been teaching at Riverside Elementary for 4 years.

"The influence of a good teacher can never be erased."

It is by this quote that I developed my teaching philosophy. As a teacher, I know that I will have a large impact on each child that enters my classroom. Knowing this I have realized that my goal is to produce well-rounded and self-sufficient students who can go into the next grade better prepared and able to thrive. My goal is to teach them life lessons, build positive relationships that will further their overall growth, and help build their character. I wish to instill a zest for knowledge that they can carry with them throughout their life. My purpose would to not only be their teacher, but their motivator, role model, and supporter.

As an educator it is important to not only give your students the keys to success, but to help them unlock the doors of their minds to recieve it in a way they understand. It is understood that the beginning of the year is driven by the teacher, but by the end of the year I plan to instill within them enough tools to not only be able to apply what they know, but to be able to help others.

I plan to be proactive instead of reactive when it comes to student dicipline. My job is to keep everyone safe. The learning environment should be a safe place for all and that is paramount. I will always strive to create a safe and loving classroom environment where my students will take an active interst in their education, feel loved by all, most of all have fun doing it.
