    Before teaching at Slidell High I was a teacher at Bonnabel High School in Kenner, LA.  Before that I taught at Abramson High School in New Orleans East.  I am a graduate of Texas A & M University and received my Masters Degree from the University of New Orleans.  I look forward to teaching your child.  Thank you for allowing me to be their teacher.

    Guaranteed Curriculum: Isolated remediation helps target the skills students need to more quickly access and practice on-grade level content. The document linked below is a reference guide for teachers to help them more quickly identify the specific remedial standards necessary for every Algebra I math standard. At the end of this course your son/daughter will be able to:

    • Reason quantitatively and use units to solve problems.
    • Interpret the structure of expressions.
    • Create equations that describe numbers or relationships.
    • Understand solving equations as a process of reasoning and explain the reasoning.
    • Solve equations and inequalities in one variable.
    • Solve systems of equations
    • Represent and solve equations and inequalities graphically.
    • Perform arithmetic operations on polynomials.

    HOMEWORK:  This is given 3 to 4 times per week and can always be finished during class time.   Homework is worth 25 points per week and it is spot checked. If a student does not have it on the day it's checked, 5 points are deducted from the total worth.

    CLASS WORK: This is given every day and students are expected to finish it during class time.  It is checked every day and is worth 25 points per week.  If a student opts not to do it, 5 points are deducted from the total worth. 

    BELL RINGERS: These are given every day at the beginning of class.  All students must copy them into their bell ringer spiral notebook or composition notebook.    Each bell ringer must have the question being asked copied and  its solution.  A Bellringer test  will be given periodically, without notice.  This will help to insure that students are copying and solving the daily problems.

    QUIZES & TESTS: At least 1 of these will be given every week.  Students are told 2 to 3 days before a quiz/test is given.  Periodically, I may give a pop quiz, too. 

    MAKE-UP POLICY - If homework or class work is missed it can be completed at the end of each week upon the return of the absent student.  Quiz/Tests must be made up within 2 days after a student returns to school.  Test make-ups can be done Tuesday, Wednesday, or Fridays before school beginning at 7:30AM until normal school day begins. After school make-ups can be done  Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday beginning at 4:00PM.

    MOODLE:  Sometimes worksheets and/or notes will be on this site, but students will be told when they need to look at it.

    Grades: Grading Scale:
    Daily Grade/Tests/Quizzes 80% 93 - 100 A
    Exam 20% 85 - 92 B 75 - 84 C
    67 - 74 D
    0 - 66 F
    Cheating will not be tolerated. Cheating includes looking around during a test or graded assignment, talking during a test, and copying someone else's work. If a student is caught cheating, both students will receive a zero for that assignment.
    You will receive 3 bathroom passes each quarter. To use the restroom/get water, you must turn-in one of your passes with your name on it upon return from the restroom. If you do not turn in your pass, the person who catches you and brings it to my attention gets your pass. Any passes left over will be 2 points on the exam. If you do not have a pass, you will not use the restroom.
    Sign in and out on the clip board by the door each time you leave/enter the room during class.
    Get out necessary class materials and then PLACE YOUR BOOK BAG WITH YOUR CELL PHONE, IPOD, etc. OFF & IN IT, AT FRONT OF CLASS
    Start your bell ringer (on the front board) when you first come in the room. Have your binder out and open by the time the bell rings.
    Do not sharpen pencils, talk, or pull out your cell phone while I am teaching! It is rude and I wouldn’t do that to you.
    If you finish an assignment early, do not think it is ok to talk/play around. You are to be productive while you are in here. Do your homework, study, read a book or over your notes.
    Grading Policy: There will be a test or quiz almost every Friday.
    Assignments – 80% Be ready for a pop-quiz if one has not been
    Exam – 20% announced.

    Make-ups must be done the week you return to school.

    I am available to help/tutor you certain mornings at 7:15am. I will be available Tuesday – Thursday mornings and afternoons. An appointment can also be made with me. Please facilitate this opportunity if you have questions about the material or need some help.
