I am very excited to be teaching children how to play a string instrument! This will be my 8th year teaching strings in the St. Tammany Parish Schools. I have been playing violin since I was 6 years old. I graduated from Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, where I majored in violin. I earned my Bachelor’s of Music Therapy from Loyola University New Orleans, and received my Teaching Certificate from Southeastern Louisiana University. I have studied violin under the late Heidi Itashiki and Arkady Foman of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, and Amy Thiaville, former concertmaster of the LPO.
My goal is not only to teach your child how to play an instrument, but to teach your child to love playing an instrument and to love music. Technique is important, but it is also important for students to understand the process they are learning so that they can continue to grow musically. Students should have fun when playing an instrument, and it is my job to bring the fun! I am looking forward to a wonderful, music filled year!
