Helayne Gibson

Hi! My name is Helayne Gibson and I am thrilled to be your child's third grade teacher this year!

I am proud to say that I am a product of St. Tammany Parish schools. I grew up in Slidell and graduated from Salmen High School in 2003. After high school, I moved to Hammond, La where I went to college at Southeastern Louisiana University, and earned my Bachelor's Degree and certification in Elementary Education in 2008.

I have taught first, second, third AND fourth grade, but third grade is my FAVORITE! This will be my seventh year of teaching, and my fifth year here at Riverside! I love being a part of the Riverside family, and watching all of my students succeed and grow.

It is my main goal in the classroom to make sure my students are having a safe and enjoyable experience. I believe that if the children feel happy and secure, they are more likely to reach their full potential, and it is my job as their teacher to help them reach that potential. I will work with each child personally to create lessons and activities that meet their individual needs. I truly believe in the quote, "It takes a village," and together, as teachers, parents, and students, we will work towards success!

This year we will be traveling through the USA with Super Bear! In our class, we will learn to work together, and we will become a family. It will be a challenging year, but I will be there to help you every step of the way! We are going to have an exciting year filled with lots of learning and new experiences and I can’t wait to get started!
