Hello students and parents and welcome to my class!
This year begins my eighteenth year of teaching, but I am new to Lancaster Elementary just like you! I have taught in various settings from 2nd grade to reduced numbers. Most recently I was a literacy interventionist (grades K-3) at Abney Elementary in Slidell for the last three years and prior to that I worked at Pine View Middle School in Covington as a full inclusion 6th grade teacher. I am certified in Mild Moderate grades 1-12 as well as Elementary Education grades 1-5. This will be my 9th year in St. Tammany Parish.
I am a graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University, both undergraduate and graduate. I have earned my Master's degree plus 30 additional graduate hours in Special Education. I consider myself a life-long learner. I am currently pursuing an Educational Diagnostician add-on degree to my Louisiana Certificate.
My family and I are from the Westbank of New Orleans, where I had previously taught for ten years. I am married to a wonderful man, Harris, and we have two daughters together. Brittanie, our oldest, is a registered nurse and was recently married this past April (2017). We are also very excited that we are expecting our first grandchild in May! Our youngest, Macy, is a 2017 graduate of Mandeville High School and is attending Southeastern Louisiana University where she is studying microbiology.
I look forward to working with you and your family!
