Nathan Mumphrey was born and raised in New Orleans Louisiana. He attended high school at Brother Martin High and was taught clarinet by the second chair clarinetist of the Louisiana Philharmonic Alan Kolfskey. After Graduating high school, Nathan Mumphrey attended Louisiana Tech University where he earned a Bachelor in Music Education. While working on his Bachelors, he was hired by the local private school Cedar Creek. There he taught instrumental music to the 4th-6th grade elementary music students.
After graduating, he was offered a position as an Assistant Band Director at Ruston High School and Head Director at I. A. Lewis 6th grade school. While working as a band director, he continued his education and earned his Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with a cognate in Ed. Leadership. Mr. Mumphrey has been playing his instrument (Clarinet) for over 25yrs. He has given many students lessons and has extensive knowledge of the band setting.
After being offered a job in St. Tammany Parish, he taught at Florida Avenue Elementary for ten years and is now excited to be part of the Mandeville Elementary and Lake Harbor Middle School families where he is now gaining a greater understanding of teaching classroom music.
