Welcome to Counselor's Corner!
It is hard to believe this is my 25thyear in education! Being a native of New Orleans, I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Nicholls State University and my Master of Education degree in School Counseling. I was a second grade teacher for eight years in St. Charles Parish. I then seized an opportunity to move to Georgia to utilize my school counseling abilities. I was a school counselor there for seven years. During this time, I also acquired my Gifted Certification. Upon returning home, St. Tammany Parish was the only place I wanted to continue my career. This is my 10th year as a Tchefuncte Gator, and there is no place I would rather be than at TMS!
My counseling philosophy includes quite a few aspects. My role as the school counselor is to decrease and/or prevent social sand emotional barriers that may interfere with academic success. Social skills and problem solving skills are learned behaviors just as children learn how to read and write. Parents are a child’s first role model. Children learn how to handle their emotions, react to situations, and interact with others by watching and listening to the adults in their lives. I am here to provide support and guidance to all students and parents, teachers and staff in order to maximize success in the classroom and to help develop the whole child.
I am very excited to serve the needs of our students and our community. I look forward to partnering with you throughout your child's educational journey here at TMS!
