I have been a teacher for 10 years, 8 of which I have spent at Mandeville High School. I have taught English I, II, and III, but III (American Literature) is definitely my favorite. Luckily, English III and ACT Prep are what I am currently teaching. I have a BA in English and a MA in Teaching from SLU. Plus, I have my school librarian certification. So hopefully, the library is where my next adventure will take me. ;)
I am also the sponsor of both the Key Club and the Writing Club. Our Key Club volunteers in our local community with Keep Mandeville Beautiful, the Nature Center, St. James House, New Orleans Lymphomia Society, the Semaritian Center, along with many others. Our Writing Club also fosters a sense of community through writing and sharing ideas in monthly meeings and through our Spoken Word Night, which allows students to present original works to a larger audience. I encourage everyone to get involved in some extracurricular activity. MHS has a lot of opportunies other than academics, so find one you love and PARTICIPATE.
Every year is a new chance to find your purpose, move to a more positive perspective, make new friends, right old wrongs, correct bad habits, and just be a better human being. Welcome to a new school year! I hope you make it your own.
