Mrs. Kathryn Branch
My name is Kathryn Branch. This will be my 33rd year to teach. Most of these years have been in Transitional First Grade (T-1) at ASES. I have taught T-1, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. My undergraduate degree and my Master's Degree are from Southeastern Louisiana University. I had a National Board Certification from 2004-2014 in the area of Early Childhood Generalist. I am trained in Project Read, a multisensory approach to teaching Language Arts. I use this program in my classroom on a daily basis.
I have taught in Washington Parish, Bogalusa City Schools, and St. Tammany Parish. I was Teacher of the Year in Bogalusa during the 1989-90 and at ASE for the 2016-2017 school year. It has been my privilege to teach Transitional First grade since 1999. This is a wonderful program for students who really need a year to grow. Currently, I am NIET certified for the Southeastern Louisiana University's Mentor Residency Program. In the past, I have mentored six student teachers from Southeastern Louisiana University. This year I am pleased to report that Christen Smith will be joining our classroom as part of the Southeastern Louisiana University Mentor Residency Program.
Since I love to talk and visit with people, I know I have chosen the right profession. I love teaching, because there is never a dull moment. I especially love teaching children to read, so that they will become life-long learners.
