Susannah Welch, Principal
Welcome to Lancaster Elementary School! This is my twenty-sixth year as an educator in the St. Tammany Parish School System. Being a St. Tammany graduate myself from Covington High, it is with most pride that I am able to give back and work for such an amazing school system. I graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University in 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education. Later, I went on to add a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education and added my plus thirty certification in leadership and administration.
My journey as a an educator began in the St. Tammany Parish Public Schools as a teacher at Mandeville Middle School. From there I went on to help open Lake Harbor Middle School, and was the Technology Resource Teacher and then Assistant Principal for ten years total. Opening Lancaster Elementary School in 2011 has truly been the highlight of my career. I love the Madisonville community, my students, and our Lancaster families. I have the most amazing staff here who make every day a great day for our students.
For the 2018-2019 school year, I have set many goals for our teachers, staff, and students in order to help every student learn and grow at his/her highest potential. Our staff is committed to identifying and implementing best practices across all subject areas as well as programs to develop the emotional and social well-being of our students. Our school motto is, “Teaching Us Responsibility to Learn Every-day,” and we encourage students to take ownership of their learning and to accept challenges on a daily basis.
This school year’s theme is about students exploring the mysteries of learning. I can’t wait to see what creative experiences our teachers and staff have planned for this year!
