•        Welcome Book Lovers to the Lyon Library Website.  I am very proud to be the Media Specialist for Lyon Elementary School.  I have been the Librarian at Lyon since 1987.  During the first few years I was part time at Lyon Elementary and part time at Madisonville Elementary.  Later on, Covington Elementary grew, and several hundred students were sent to Lyon.  Then, I was able to become the full time librarian for Lyon.  I graduated from Mandeville High School in 1967. I graduated from LSU in Baton Rouge with a degree in Secondary Education and a degree in Library Science in 1971. My first teaching job was teaching Louisiana History at Pineview Elementary for one year.  I then married and flew to Europe with my husband who was in the military.  I was able to teach Government in Kaiserslautern, West Germany for a year in the GED program .  After a few years traveling in Europe, I came home to a job teaching American History at Covington Jr. High which was all boys.  Covington Jr. High later merged with Pineview Jr. High to form William Pitcher Jr. High.  I stayed there until 1986.  All total, I have been teaching 44 years in the St. Tammany Parish System.  This is my 45th glorious year.     I am very excited about this new year.  I love Lyon Elementary and all the wonderful children who come to my library.  Happy Reading!!!!!
