    Lancaster School Counselor

  • Deanna Desmond

I am delighted to introduce myself to you as the counselor of Lancaster Elementary School.  This is my 29th year as an educator.  I taught at Mandeville Middle for 4 years, and then I taught at Tchefuncte Middle School for 24 years.  I loved my years as a classroom teacher, but I am very excited to move into the field of counseling where I will be able to focus on helping students as they grow and learn to get the most out of school.  It is my pleasure to help a student reach their personal best.

I am a graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University.  I have a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and a Master's degree in School and Family Counseling. Some ways I work to reach each student include: morning meetings, morning motivational announcements, classroom lessons, individual session, and some small groups.

In addition to counseling students, I work with gifted and talented screenings, 504 plans for students in 5th and 6th grade, Red Ribbon Week, Kids in Transition, some clubs and other various duties.
