4th Grade ELA & S.S. Teacher
Welcome to fourth grade! Not only am I very excited to be your child's teacher this year, but I am also looking forward to meeting with you and working together to promote a successful and enjoyable school experience for your child.
Since my husband's family was originally from Madisonville, we chose to move to this area, so that we could be near his extended family. We have now been here 20 years. Our 2 boys are 11 years old and 17 years old and they have loved growing up in Madisonville.
I have been teaching in St. Tammany Parish for 20 years. 18 of those years have been in Madisonville. The other two were spent in the Covington and Pearl River areas. 14 of my teaching years were spent working with 4th, 6th, 7th, & 8th grade WIN/YES classes. The rest of my experience is in a larger classroom setting. This year, I will be your child's ELA teacher. Together, we will read many interesting stories, write about many challenging topics, and work on spelling and cursive. I believe that all children can and want to learn. As a teacher, my main goal is to help your child learn to be an independent, life-long learner. To reach this goal, I will meet your child from where he/she is and guide him/her as far as possible, planning carefully so that your child can feel challenged without unnecessary frustration. Another one of my goals is teaching children that their best efforts are essential. I want your child to develop and maintain an "I can and will keep trying" attitude toward school and rigorous content. I feel that this attitude will enable your child to be successful in their academic endeavors.
If you have any questions, concerns, or comments, please let me know. My preferred method of communication is e-mail because it lessens the chances of the message getting lost by either your child or myself. However, if you do not have e-mail, please send me a note and I will get back with you as soon as possible. Great communication is extremely important to the success of your child, so please don't hesitate to ask if you want to know something.
