Welcome to Kindertarten! My name is Christy Ross, and I will be your child's teacher this year. Kindergarten is full of new and fun experiences. This is your child's first year in elementary school, and this means that your child is ready to learn new skills and take on new responsibilities!
The reading program in Kindergarten is packed with wonderful stories, songs, and poetry. Through quality literature, your child will be introduced to the joy of reading and writing. Daily journal writing and quiet reading will help your child become independent writers and readers.
The math program includes many hands-on activities such as sorting, counting, comparing, graphing, and measuring. Your child will learn all about patterns, how to write numerals and read number words, and the fundamentals of addition and subtraction.
These are just a few of the many concepts and critical thinking activities your child will take on this year. The children will have lots of opportunities to build friendships through social activities such as outdoor play, field trips, activities with other classes, and celebrations throughout the year.
Let me tell you a little about myself:

I have 2 children: Christian is a freshman at Mandeville High School, and Julia is a third-grader at PES.
I am excited about the fun and educational year ahead, and I look forward to getting to know your child.
