Vocal Music Director
Fine Arts Survey
Hello and wlecome to the Mandeville High School, Vocal Music Department. I began teaching music in St. Tammany Parish 30 years ago, and have had the privilege of teaching at Mandeville High School for the past 26 years. I graduated from Mississippi State University with a Bachelor of Music Education Degree. I later earned my Masters Degree in Vocal Performance at Southeastern Louisiana University.
Throughout my career at MHS, I have taught Fine Arts Survey, Show Choir, Advanced Choir, Beginning Choir, and Piano Lab. In previous years I have taught Music Theory and directed the Spring Musicals. The MHS choirs perfrom at various competitions, local events, and community functions. This past Spring the MHS Show Choir competed in the Atlanta Star Choir Competition, bringing home the highest score of the competition and the title of Grand Champion.
I believe in creating a safe and enthusiastic learning enviornment for students, so they can develop their musical abilities through performance and education. It is important for each student to have the opportunity to learn basic vocal techniques, develop sight reading skills, and work on their stage presence, as well as perfromance. Our students are encouraged to participate in the Louisiana Solo and Ensemble Competition, District Honor Choir, and All State.
I look forawrd to the great year ahead! We have so many wonderful opportunities for students to grow and develop their aptitude for music.
