• Welcome to Health Education I'm excited to be entering my 23rd year of teaching. 

    I have a wide variety of skills and strategies from my experiences teaching special ed., peer facilitation, conflict resolution, physical education and health. I am currently teaching my greatest passion -  health education.

    I attended Southeastern Louisiana University earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Health and Phyiscal Education K-12.

    COURSE DESCRIPTION

    Health Education is a one - semester course required for graduation. Successful completion of this course will earn students a 1/2 credit toward fulfilling the required 2 credits in Physical Education. Health Education is designed to introduce students to the physical, mental, and social components of overall health or well - being.

    GRADING POLICY

    80% of the grades earned in this class will come from tests, quizzes, worksheets, projects. 20% of the grade will come from the 9 weeks exam at the end of the quarter.

    MISSED TESTS AND MAKE-UP WORK IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE STUDENT.

    Make-up policy is determined by St. Tammany Parish School Board and Covington High handbooks.

     

     

     

    BEHAVORIAL EXPECTATIONS

    Covington High School has a Positive Behavior Support program outlined to encourage student achievement. Students are to take Personal Responsibility In Developing Excellence (Lions take P.R.I.D.E). These expectations are posted throughout the school.

    Students can earn Lion Bucks based on these expectations and can spend the Lion bucks on activities throughout the semester.

    CLASSROOM PROCEDURES

    Enter class prepared to work (pencils, notebook)

    Sit in your assigned seat

    Complete the Bell Ringer assignment

    Return completed work to your folder

    Upon returning from an absence check the “make up work” bin for missed assignments

    CLASSROOM POLICIES

    When students do not adhere to classroom behavior expectations or disrupt the learning process the following actions will be taken:

    1st Infraction Conference with student

    2nd infraction Contact Parent/Guardian

    3rd infraction Teacher detention (Mornings 7:00 - 7:24 held in room 102)

    4th Infraction Referral to Administration
