Jodi Stuker, Special Education Co-Teacher
Hello and welcome to my webpage. I am so glad to be your child's special education teacher this year! For many of you this is our second or third year together and each and every one of my students is very special to me. It has been and continues to be a pleasure to be a part of your childs' lives and I feel blessed to have the opportunity to watch them learn and grow.
This is my 18th year teaching in St. Tammany Parish. Teaching is a second career for me. I have an undergraduate degree in business management and marketing from Indiana University. I later returned to college and earned a masters degree at Southeastern University in special education. I am certified to teach kindergarten through 12th grade special education and have had experience teaching children from kindergarten through 6th grade. I have taught at Woodlake Elementary, Covington Elementary, and Lancaster Elementary (for the past 6 years) in various special education capacities. I have taught the reduced numbers class (specializing in the needs of students with Autism), many resource classes, and the past two years I have been teaching in the co-teaching setting. This year it is my pleasure to work with Mrs. Paulsell's and Mrs. Herrerra's class in 5th grade. I am also honored to be working with four of our 6th grade teachers: Mrs. Fleury, Mrs. Norris, Mrs. Michel, and Mr. Newfield.
I believe that every child must work hard to reach his/her maximum potential and fully participate in his/her learning to achieve success. It is important as any child matures that he or she learns to increasingly take responsibility for learning and success. Our goal is for our students to learn how to survive in the world without us, so educational decisions must be made with that final goal in mind. However, at the same time, each child should receive the tools needed to allow him or her to learn. Striking a balance between these is critical to your child's future success.
